Privacy policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Your privacy, in plain words
The Corner Store runs this website and everything on it: the products, content, features, tools and services (together, the "Services"). Our store is powered by Shopify.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with when you visit, shop or get in touch. We follow the laws that apply in India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the rules made under it, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules as they come into force. If this policy and our Terms of Service ever clash on how your personal information is handled, this policy wins.
Please give it a read. By using the Services, you confirm you've read it and understand how your information is used.
What we collect
"Personal information" means anything that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It doesn't include anonymous or de-identified information that can't be traced back to you. Depending on how you use the Services and what the law allows, we may collect or process:
- Contact details: your name, billing and shipping addresses, phone number and email address
- Payment information: payment details, transaction details, and payment confirmations. Payments are handled by our payment providers, and we don't store your full card details.
- Account information: your username, password, security questions, preferences and settings
- Order activity: what you view, add to your cart or wishlist, buy, return, exchange or cancel, and your past orders
- Messages to us: whatever you write when you contact us, such as a support question
- Device information: your device, browser, network connection, IP address and other identifiers
- Usage information: how and when you browse and use the Services
We may also draw conclusions from this information, such as what you might like.
Where we get it from
- From you: when you create an account, browse, shop, or write to us
- Automatically: from your device as you use the Services, through cookies and similar technologies
- From our service providers: the tools and partners that work on our behalf
- From our partners or other third parties
How we use it
We use your information only for purposes you've been told about, and where you've agreed to it or the law allows it. Depending on how you use the Services, we may use it to:
- Run the store and make it better. This means taking payments, making and shipping your order, handling returns and exchanges, managing your account, remembering your preferences, letting you post reviews, and suggesting things you might like. We also use it to improve the Services.
- Tell you about things. We may send marketing by email, text or post, and show you ads on the Services or other sites, including based on what you've bought, added to your cart or looked at. You can say no to this at any time.
- Keep things safe. This means verifying your account, keeping payments secure, and spotting or acting on fraud, illegal activity or anything unsafe. If you create an account, please keep your login private and don't share it with anyone.
- Talk to you. This covers support, replies, and keeping our relationship in good shape.
- Follow the law. We may need to respond to legal requests, including from law enforcement or government bodies, take part in legal proceedings, keep tax and accounting records, and enforce or look into breaches of our terms or policies.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when there's a good reason, and always under this policy. That may include:
- Shopify and service providers who work for us on things like IT, payments, analytics, support, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping. This includes Shiprocket and its courier partners, who get your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your order.
- Business and marketing partners who help us show you ads. For example, we use Shopify to support personalised ads with third-party services, based on your activity across different shops and sites. These partners use your information under their own privacy notices. You can tell us at any time that you don't want your information used for targeted ads.
- Anyone you ask us to. For example, to ship you a product, or when you use a social media widget or login option.
- Our affiliates, or others within our corporate group.
- For legal or business reasons. This includes a merger or bankruptcy, complying with legal obligations (such as court orders or requests from government authorities), enforcing our terms and policies, and protecting or defending the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.
Our relationship with Shopify
Shopify hosts our store. It collects and processes information about how you access and use the Services so it can provide and improve them. What you submit is shared with Shopify and with third parties, some of whom may be in other countries, so we can serve you.
We also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your activity in our store, other merchants' stores, and Shopify itself. For those features, Shopify is responsible for processing your information, including responding to your requests about it. To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Other people's websites
The Services may link to sites run by others. We don't control them, so please read their privacy and security policies before you share anything. We can't promise those sites are secure or accurate. Anything you post on public or semi-public spaces, such as social media, may be visible to others and used by them, and we can't control that. A link doesn't mean we endorse the site or its owners, unless we say so.
Children's data
The Services aren't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. We also don't track children or show them targeted ads. If your child has given us their information, write to us and we'll delete it.
Security, breaches and how long we keep your information
We use reasonable security measures to protect your information. But no security is perfect, and we can't promise otherwise. Information you send us may not be secure in transit, so please don't send sensitive or confidential details through unsecure channels.
If there's ever a breach that affects your personal information, we'll tell you and the authorities as Indian law requires.
We keep your information only as long as we need it to run your account, provide the Services, follow the law (including tax and accounting rules), settle disputes or enforce our agreements and policies. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Your rights and choices
Under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as it comes into force, you have these rights over your personal information. They aren't absolute, and sometimes we may say no, as the law allows.
- Access: ask for a summary of the personal information we hold about you, what we do with it, and who we've shared it with
- Correct and update: ask us to fix anything that's wrong, incomplete or out of date
- Erase: ask us to delete your personal information, unless the law says we need to keep it
- Withdraw consent: if we're using your information because you agreed to it, you can take that consent back at any time, as easily as you gave it. This won't affect anything we did before you withdrew it, and it may mean we can't provide some Services.
- Nominate someone: name another person who can use these rights for you if you die or can't act for yourself
- Get help: ask for your questions or complaints to be dealt with by our grievance contact below
- Communication choices: you can opt out of promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link. We may still send you non-promotional emails, like order updates.
To use any of these rights, contact us at the email below or use the options on the Services. For information Shopify handles, please use the Shopify Privacy Portal.
We won't treat you differently for using your rights. We may need to verify your identity first, as the law allows. We'll reply in good time, as the law requires.
Complaints and grievances
If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, please write to our grievance contact first, and we'll acknowledge your message within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within one month.

If we haven't sorted things out to your satisfaction, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, as the law allows.
Sending your information abroad
We may transfer, store and process your personal information outside India, including with Shopify and our other service providers. We'll only do this as Indian law allows.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when our practices change or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We'll post the new version here, update the "Last updated" date, and tell you if the law requires us to.
